hey, i’m chloe and i graduated 2019. some advice that i have for you guys would be to stay in your own lane. year 12 can be information overload and can feel out of control just try not to take on everyone else’s stressful energy including students, teachers and even family.

another piece of advice that i never was told about or understood until really later on is that the atar really isn’t the be-all and end-all. if you’re looking to do something along the lines for design, film, music, gaming or any creative industries... most of the time you don’t need an atar.

in my case, i looked around and found courses that offer early entries (some being simply over the phone) and picked a college that seemed right for me. this allowed me to chose year 12 subjects i enjoyed and went through non-atar subjects. this made year 12 way less stressful and definitely more enjoyable. from that, i was able to begin a bachelor of film at a private institute that gives me the proper skills i need rather than going to uni for a broad arts degree that never really helps me if i wanted to do something more specific.

overall try not to go with the crowds, find what works for you and don’t let others hold you back or stress you out. at the end of the day, you are going to achieve more doing something you love.

good luck guys,

chloe x
