how to dress to impress (with no money stress)

hey everyone! lauren here :))

as we're transitioning into hot girl summer, it's no doubt we want to look our best! with the new trends falling in and the weather getting warmer, dressing to impress can cost so much money and as someone who is a little on the broke side... here is how you can dress to impress with no money stress!

#01 you've got a start!

no doubt you have a wardrobe with some clothes in it already! you've got a start already... so not losing hope yet okay? mixing & matching clothes is vital to saving a lot of coin!

don't forget to use what you've got as your foundation! if you find that you've got some decent tops, focus on finding a some cute pants that match up! whereas if you're lacking some skirts or dresses, focus on looking for that!

#02 clothes swap

if you find yourself in a similar body type with your friends, do a clothes swap!! it could be a really cool way to switch up styles, your looks and bring you closer together! it literally costs $0 and it can be a fun way to spend time together!!

you also ask eachother if you want to get rid of anything! making a little pile of clothes you dont really want anymore. once you go through those piles together the rest can donated to charity. i mean if you put an iced coffee on top of that, it's pretty cool way to hang for a day!

#03 reduce, reuse, recycle!

another fun way to hang out with your friends is to channel your inner macklemore and go to thrift store with only $20 in your pocket!!

hilst America usually gets the motherlode of cute clothes in thrift stores, give Sydney's op-shops, flea markets & thrift stores a chance, it can surprise you! It's a great way to fill your wardrobe with a budget! in addition it's great for the environment!

#04 sales!

for those who know me, know that i love my sales! why buy something full price when i can get it for 20%, 30%, even up to 80% off?! keeping your eyes peeled for sales especially in online shopping is the best way to save on the cutest clothes! I find whilst yes... getting heaps of promotional emails from brands like cotton on, glassons, and universal can get a lot, they send you exactly when they have a sale and that can be great! signing up for those membership cards can also give you discounts and free gifts (usually for your birthday)

there are many other apps to help give you discounts such as honey & student edge that will give you access to saving money!! the final way to get into those sales it to look out for special times of the year such as black friday, and the end of each season. these times usually have the best sales!!

#05 look out for statement pieces

when shopping, you want pieces of clothing that make a statement and go with a lot of your wardrobe! for instance, i bought these flair pants from glassons that are a bit pricey, but go with a lot of tops and jackets i have! they also flatter my body so i may have gone and bought them in four other colours. whilst this sounds impractical, i don't need anymore pants for the next one–two years. it's more of a long term way to save.

#06 accessories

accessories are a great way to dress up your wardrobe on a budget. stores like kmart, target, lovisa, glassons, sportsgirl and cotton sell amazing accessories for a reasonable price. you'll be surprised how much jewellery, a belt, hat or glasses can spice up an outfit!

#07 $$$

selling clothes you don't want anymore is a great way to put money into getting clothes you want! this is also a great initiative to reduce, reuse and recycle! apps such as depop, poshmark and ebay are a great place to go. this ensures that not only does someone else get some cute clothes but you can put money into new outfits.

#08 fund ur shopping

i know this sounds like it won't get far but getting a money box or money jar and put your spare change in it will surprise you in funding for more outfits! there are also many ways to win money such as writing competitions on studentedge, giveaways on instagram and getting a job seems to be the best option! (which i know can be tricky!)

hope these help! if you need anymore fashion tips, check out the fashion section of wildflower, or even message us! happy shopping!!
