run away

when one thinks of running away,

they may think of their parents dismay.

hiding away in the dim-lit streets,

like a coming of age.

but-

from time to time i have the desire to run,

to my heart's desire.

somewhere far away-

that may share the same moon or the sun,

but different waves.

to the sunny islands of greece i would go,

leaving the life i love behind,

to create new possibilities.

i would sit there as a little girl,

intrigued by the blurred pixels,

mamma mia, a life away in paradise.

but i wonder-

is it a simple fantasy - a movie idea?

or is it real life?

what would happen if i ran away?

left the school papers behind.

pursuing the untraveled roads,

but as reality sets in,

back to it.

this poem derives from my love of travelling and adventure. the routine, day-to-day life becomes mundane from time to time and this piece expresses the ultimate desire to travel upon graduating bethlehem :))
