Things I remember from High School.

Well well well, who would have thought Mrs Matheos would be sharing a taste of her highschool experience and life to expose herself well and truly!

Anywho, here I am…

Thinking about highschool days makes me think about some of the most goofy and funny times that I shared with my friends. It really was a time in my life where I just remember having so much fun! Little responsibilities, yes the occasional friendship issue and the assessments, but most of all, chilling out with our friends ALL day.

I tell you people… There is not another opportunity you will get to do that again in your life… really your LIFE!

Mrs Matheos in school.. I was pretty studious, liked to work hard and complete work both in class and at home as I had my own learning goals and knew what I wanted to achieve out of it, but must admit was cheeky in character!

I would often like to have a joke around in class, be running around the yard at lunch annoying different groups and always down for a good laugh.

Trying to think back of one of the funniest memories is hard! Although it doesn’t seem like that long ago, when I really try to think back at particular moments, my memory is somewhat blurred!

These are a few thoughts that just bring a smile back to my face when I think about it…

- My Year 11 Maths teacher used to get my name wrong ALL the time… don’t ask why. He literally called me a random name for 2 years in Year 11 and 12 and my friends and I totally went along with it to the point I would end up writing it in brackets on assessment papers.. See! I told you… cheeky!

- My language teacher who taught us Greek was one of the sternest teachers we had in the school. Once we had been seated in the classroom, we all had to be quiet and serious, seriously it felt like we weren’t even allowed to smile at times! He was always so serious! Most lessons, we would literally be crying with laughter at someone he would scream at in the class until we were eventually all given demerits for being unable to stop the tears of laughter.. That sort of laughter was literally goodness to the soul. We would be aching in the tummies after!

- One day, my girlfriends and I were mucking around and throwing each other's scarves at one another until one of theirs went over this fence that separated the two different blocks of the school. It was this steel fence (not too tall) with spikes on top. My genius of a friend thought it should be easy enough to climb over to retrieve her scarf. Whilst she was quite successful in getting over to get her scarf, the way back was not so good… She ended up getting her skirt stuck on the spikes of the top of the fence only to put a hole in her skirt and literally be hanging from the fence. It truly was one of the funniest moments but so ridiculously silly thinking back! We were again, literally crying of laughter. At this point the teacher had already noticed and somewhat laughed at us until we of course received a very long lecture.

Those are a few memories but when I think about high school life in general, it really was a place to hang out with different groups of people, soak in loads of info in class and of course HAVE A GOOD TIME! I remember being part of so many clubs just to see what I could get out of them and to socialise with more people and teachers.

Try and get more involved! It really did make my experience of school SO much better and made me appreciate it so much more.

I encourage you to all enjoy yourselves a little more and have a laugh with one another. Have goals, focus on school work but really take advantage of times to hang out with your friends and enjoy each other's company.

They will be the memories you never forget!!
