It’s almost been a month in quarantine and a lot of us are dying to get outside and see our friends, so here are under $20 budget-friendly ideas on things to do and places to go once quarantine is over and life is back to normal. You don’t always have to hang out at Burwood Westfield.
Picnic – Royal Botanical Gardens, Bicentennial Park, Balmain East
Grab a picnic blanket, games, some snacks from your favourite local supermarket and your friends. Have a relaxing afternoon with a picnic in the park, just don’t forget to bring bug spray.
Ice skating – Canterbury, Macquarie
Keep an eye out for student discounts and hit up the rinks. Ice skating is a fun way to see your friends stack it and to have a good laugh. Jam out to the music, grab some food, and skate around with your friends.
Beach – Manly Beach, Shelly Beach, Bondi Beach, Watsons Bay.
Get your swimmers, sunscreen, snacks, friends and soak up some sun! Travel to Manly with a beautiful Ferry ride. You can go wandering around the markets and shops, soak up some sun at the beach, and eat at the amazing restaurants.
Exploring with Public transport – Train, Bus, Ferry, Light Rail, Sydney Metro
Sydney is a large place just waiting to be explored! Grab your friends and your opal cards on Sundays for only $2.80, you can even travel to the Blue Mountains!
Restaurants – Newtown, Concord, Burwood, Strathfield, Top Ryde, Brighton Le Sands
Ditch the food court and go to a restaurant! If you chip in $15 with friends and share your meals, you can explore the diverse range of amazing food there is to offer in Sydney.
Bowling – North Strathfield, Strathfield, Dee Why, Macquarie
Keep an eye out for the student discounts and get ready for a fun-filled day of friendly competition on the alley and the arcade. Put $20 in with your friends and even depending on where you go, get food delivered to your lane.
Bike rides – Local Area, City, Sydney Olympic Park,
Get your dusty bikes out of the garage and explore amazing places Sydney has to offer. Sydney Olympic Park offers bike hire and over 35km of safe cycling pathways with beautiful sights to discover.
Zoo – Taronga Zoo, Sydney Zoo
Look out for student tickets and have a fun day at the zoo with your friends! You are never too old to go see all of the beautiful animals.
Second- Hand Shopping – Newtown, Marrickville,
Grab your friends and stroll around the second-hand shops. There are many cute and unique items to find at shops like Vinnies, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Paddy’s Market.
The Rocks – City
The Rocks is a neighbourhood of historic laneways in the shadow of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Mingle at the open-air Rocks Markets, purchase street food and handmade fashions.
Walk – Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay walk, Bronte to Bondi walk
If you and your friends wanna get some exercise, a beach walk is an amazing way to get in those steps and catch up with your friends.
Strolling around the city – Darling Harbour/Circular Quay
Get some gelato and soak in the beautiful city of Sydney! Strolling around the city is awesome as it’s got so many cool and unique places to discover.
The Pools – Homebush, Enfield, Cabarita, North Sydney, Bronte Baths, Lane Cove
Not a fan of the beach? Hit up the pools with your friends and have a fun day of splashing around (just make sure your friends can swim first). Bonus points if you get hot chips after!
