How Blazér Magazine became the pioneer for Bethlehem's creativity

Hi Angels,

Throughout the many years that students at Bethlehem College have expressed their creativity, one in the recent past has truly tested the limit that goes from a school magazine to inspiring future Bethlehem ladies' creative expression - a magazine called Blazér.

For one year in 2018 by a few year 12s having an idea to begin something that revolutionised the perception of effort within imagination and originality, Blazér became a hit within the school community. Posters everywhere and four edition issues that covered the faces of students throughout our school’s classrooms; as they read; widening their mind of the endless possibilities they are able to express themselves through the likes of art, music, current affairs, wellbeing and fashion.

( For anyone who doesn’t know what Blazér Magazine is, basically it was a student made magazine that showcased student made material on various subjects and was a Bethlehem College best-selling magazine :) )

With their common thesis concept of “for Bethlehem girls, by Bethlehem girls” Blazér has been able to raise awareness on various topics and inspire others to pursue a creative outlet of their likeness, without having to be bound by their wariness of passionate texts.

Beginning their debut with their quintessential “meme of the month”, Blazér tackled the various avenues that students are able to venture into - causing lengthy discussions in classes and a further emphasis on student similarities.

Not being afraid to talk about controversial subjects allowed students (and teachers) from a variety of perspectives, opinions and innovative channels as well as year groups. This method was able to grab the attention of other students and pass on the word to have a more relaxed atmosphere of enjoyment in school; especially during assessment season.

Although this magazine has become a relic of the past and avid readers (including myself) having kept the four issue copies for years after, Blazér has influenced an array of direct and indirect social clubs within the College that have discussed topics similar to those presented in these 50 page magazines.

The good thing for all of our new Bethlehem girls is that I have done some deep diving into Blazér (and by deep diving I mean turning to page 2 to their social media page) and have found their Tumblr page! Does anyone remember Tumblr? Throughout their page, they have posted PDF versions of the first three issues as well as their creative processes! Meaning that you too are able to see the amazing-ness of the magazine as much as other Bethlehem students in the years past :).
