my year twelve retreat

so this is it... one of my last exciting year twelve events before exams and deadlines consume my year twelve.

i was so excited for year twelve retreat, three days off to relax, forget about the uncertainty of our futures and dreading exams. arriving to school with my oversized luggage and my whole carry-on bag of snacks was just the beginning. after a bag check for some... certain substances, we packed up and left on the bus ride.

other than girls screaming the lyrics to driver's license it was pretty relaxing, i took a 10am nap which i haven't admittingly done in a long time. arriving there on a wonky ride, i was itching to get out and start our day.

then it's like a time skip to night time, it honestly felt that quick. after activities, a few amazing hours of free time and settling in, it was time for dinner (something i won't miss was the camp food, coming back to my mum and nonna's cooking was indeed a blessing). the three days easily slipped into a mere few hours full of amazing memories and i came back exhausted. (thanks mum for getting me maccas and letting me nap when i got home)

✰ so here is a countdown of my highlights of retreat ✰

––––––––✰––––––––

five –– hot chocolate

i genuinely believe i had over twenty hot chocolates on that retreat, they were so good!! i haven't had good hot chocolate like that in a long long time and it was probably the thing i had the most at retreat. i had one with my brekkie, one for morning tea, one after lunch, one after dinner and one before bed every day i was there.

four –– sunrises

waking up to watch the beautiful wollongong sunrise was so refreshing. between the beautiful skies, the morning chill, the native birds singing, the peace and quiet, it was such a memorable moment that i will forever share with my best friend zali <3

––––––––✰––––––––

three –– hearing a story

there was a girl in my year group, a dear friend of mine who shared one of the hardest moments of her life and how we as a year group helped her. admittingly... i was sobbing, it truly opened her up on a new light that i never knew. it emphasised that your actions and words truly affect others, what matters is about impacting others in a good way, you never know what others around you are going through. so if she's reading this, she knows who she is... i have so much love for you!! :))

––––––––✰––––––––

two –– affirmations

looking at the envelopes with our names on the wall, it starting to pile in with affirmations from our friends, teachers and even acquaintances, the friendships we never had. my heart filled with warmth as well as dread, thinking i wouldn't get that many, but little did lauren know she was indeed loved :) i was so surprised when i received a total of 50 affirmations, even if one if from myself (it's called self love ;D) from dear friends, some of my teachers and even friends i never knew i had :)) it's safe to say i was sobbing on the last morning when we opened them up.

––––––––✰––––––––

one –– waterfall

going on a bushwalk and seeing a real waterfall was such a thrilling experience. it was so fun to go on a walk with a big group of people i love in our year group and explore nature! we may have gone in the wrong direction at first but we worked together and the moment i sat near the cliffs was a moment i'll never forget in my life.

––––––––✰––––––––

this retreat has allowed us to refresh, make some lasting memories and recharge our exhausted brains by having way too much junk food... especially the hot chocolate. thank you to the teachers: mrs nehme, mrs cofini, mrs taouk, mrs lindon mrs casey, ms valore and mrs freeman for truly making our year twelve retreat so fun and memorable! words can't describe how amazing the retreat was, we can't thank you you enough!
