For a long time, I thought naming the greatest anime of all time was a silly idea. Anime evolves over time, and judging different eras of television would be unnecessary. However, one anime stands out above the rest and deserves to be crowned the best anime of all time. Attack on Titan. If you’re into anime or not, I'm here to tell you why you should ditch the Netflix show Riverdale and start binge watching Aot.

What's the anime about?
Attack on Titan, which is written by Hajime Isayama, takes place in a world where humanity lives within cities surrounded by massive Walls that protect them from Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures that devour humans seemingly without reason. The plot revolves around Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their childhood friend Armin Arlelt, whose lives are irrevocably changed by the appearance of a Colossal Titan, which destroys their home town and kills Eren's mother. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin join the Scout Regiment, an elite group of soldiers, vowing vengeance and reclaiming the world from the Titans.

Why should you watch Aot?
The first three seasons began as action-packed thrillers, combining heart-stopping fights and animation with what could be anime's greatest story. However, season four turns the series on its head and solidifies the shows’ spot at the top of the anime totem pole. What distinguishes Attack on Titan from the competition is the way they build tension without having to explicitly say anything within the scene. The animation of the characters' faces, combined with the fantastic music, creates moments that will live on in the minds of anime fans for the rest of their lives. Every detail in the show matters in a scene, because you never know when a titan will attack in this anime.
