Born and raised in Sydney, New South Wales, she enrolled in dancing, acting, singing and piano classes at a young age. At the age of 15, Goodrem signed a record deal with Sony Music Australia. Her first album, Innocent Eyes, was one of the highest-selling debut albums in Australian history.

Australian singer/actor Delta Goodrem was hospitalised in Sydney, at the young age of 18 after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a treatable form of lymphatic cancer. The 18-year-old Sony Music artist has had a hectic schedule promoting her new Epic album, "Innocent Eyes," which was No. 1 in Australia at the time, and bowed on the U.K. album chart at No. 2.

She became the first Australian artist ever to hit No. 1 with both her debut album and the first three singles from that album. In the past 35 years, only three Australian acts have had more singles hit No. 1: John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and Kylie Minogue.

Goodrem is a regular on long-running Aussie TV series "Neighbours," on which she plays an aspiring singer.

Delta Goodrem has recently revealed a secret health battle that saw her lose the ability to control her speech back in 2018. In a six-minute video posted to social media, Goodrem documents her struggle, revealing it is the story behind her new song ‘Paralyzed’. “I wanted to share my story and say why I hadn’t had music out for so long and why this song and why I wrote it,” Goodrem says in the video. “It’s been a strange process not actually sharing it straight away but I just didn’t know if I was ready yet.”

Goodrem revealed that in October 2018, the singer had her salivary gland removed. But complications following the surgery led to the paralysis of a nerve in her tongue. Goodrem revealed she went into months of rehabilitation to regain control of her speech, with daily therapy sessions. She added she doesn’t think her speech will ever fully be the same as to what it was before her surgery.

Delta continues to be such an inspiration to me that she never gave up and continued to do what she loved even when feeling unwell and was determined to keep going after the cancer challenges. She is a beautiful soul and when I saw her in concert when she came a few years ago it was a truly magical experience.

Feel free to check out some of Delta’s songs if you haven't already, they are a bloody ripper ♡
