INTRODUCING THE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP OF BETHLEHEM COLLEGE: C.A.R.E
Hello! This is your new C.A.R.E leader for 2021, Ameelea Nguyen!
It is a pleasure for me to be a part of the leadership team and to be working with Ms. McGrath and the fellow members of the C.A.R.E group. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, we are unable to introduce our lovely team and goals at our school assembly.
For now, we will be working closely with the Wildflower team to connect with you through your screen, providing you information on current global issues, regarding environmental impacts and the effects on communities and society overall, as well as advice on how YOU can help contribute to saving our planet. Here, I will also be discussing our goals and initiatives that we’d like to take on, from now and up until the end of next year!
————
After gathering thoughts and opinions, we have decided that the goals the C.A.R.E Group would like to achieve are to improve student wellbeing and participation in school and co-curricular activities through our initiatives.
We aim to maintain a clean school environment and implement sustainable practices, such as:
a herb garden for hospitality classes and/ or the canteen, fundraise money to support organisations that protect animals, participate in Earth Hour Waste-Free Lunch.
Our goal is to collaborate with the Ashfield Council in representing our community for environmental projects such as charity work and Clean Up Australia Day.
Unsure of what’s happening in our meetings? What do we discuss about in C.A.R.E?
Aside from learning and building our knowledge on factors that affect the climate, we also look into global issues, regarding pollution, climate change, natural disasters, and movements for inequality.
Why should you join us?
Attend our meetings enough, you may be able to have an appealing school report that you can show off on your resume O_O !!
However, in all seriousness, you will be recognised as representatives of the C.A.R.E group in your year group. This is a great opportunity to meet other students passionate about taking action to care for the environment and support your communities and others!
Through Wildflower, the C.A.R.E group will be able to connect with students of Bethlehem College, releasing articles on current global issues.
The C.A.R.E group invites you all to come and join in on our discussions!
