“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.”

-Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi by her teen mother and they later moved to inner-city Milwaukee. Oprah had a rough childhood with being molested from the age of 9 and ended up pregnant at the age of 14. Her son died prematurely and died soon after birth. At this time, Oprah ran away from home because of the reaction her family gave her when she told them about her experience with sexual abuse. At the age of 17, Oprah won The Miss Black Tennessee Pageant. It wasn’t until 1976 when Oprah started her career in television on the show Baltimore, receiving the assignment to visit the Baltimore neighbourhood each day to interview local people.

Overall, Oprah Winfrey is an amazing talk show host, actress, television producer, media executive and philanthropist. Oprah has been nominated for 67 awards and has won 38 of them, these include 39 Daytime Emmy awards, 7 for Outstanding Hosts, 9 for Outstanding Talk Show and 21 in the Creative Arts categories.
