hi there!
I have never been the one who was to set a new year's resolution.
This was primarily due to the fact that I don’t keep up with goals unless I am driven or forced to commit to them. From a personal perspective, resolutions have always been defined as ‘difficult, unreasonable and stressful‘ as a result of the steps you need to maintain in order to reach them. However, amongst teenagers I find that coming up with a list of goals is more stressful than physically applying them into your daily routine.
Since 2020 was an extremely stressful year for everyone I decided to make a list of 100 things to do during 2021 to feel like you are back in 2016.
( And what I mean by being back in 2016 ) :
30 things to do to feel again ( with the consideration of COVID-19 - stay safe kiddoes :)) )
Watch your all time favourite kids cartoon ( I recommend avatar, lok, owl house )
Go to a hidden cove with your best friend.
Have a cottagecore inspired picnic and do the cake + wine glass trend
Recreate photos with your siblings of when you were kids
Create an instagram where you put photos of your favourite photos from every year and share it with your friends/for yourself
Watch the matrix and reprogram your subconscious mind
Learn a new language with an IBF ( internet best friend )
Get out of your comfort zone
Make a stranger smile
Have a conversation with someone and let them share their childhood memories with you.
Have a good study routine set in place ( one that suits you and only you! )
Get organized and balance school, work and your social life
Do a room clean out ( throw out/donate anything that you don’t need )
Create something and then gift it to someone
Learn skateboarding
Grab a disposable camera for every year and take photos for memories
Go to a museum and take some photos
Try out a new makeup style ( see what is in trend :)) )
Make something, anything, and gift it to someone
Find new places where you and your friends can hang out ( e.g it could be an amazing coffee shop, or local store! )
Declutter your laptop - get rid of any unnecessary items taking up your storage space
Online shopping ( spend some time out for yourself and buy that item )
If you can drive, recreate the perks of being a wallflower tunnel scene with your friends.
Go to a train station that not many people are nearby, and as a train passes scream all of your pain away.
Watch something new - whether that be an anime, children’s movie or a documentary: something that you wouldn’t normally watch
Scroll through a different side of tik-tok don’t do straight tik-tok, do one of your favorite movies/a topic that interests you! I find that tik-tok provides me with a lot of interesting information in just a 60-second video!
Watch an anime. Begin with 'your name' and thank me later :))
Create a zoom call with your friends and allocate 30 minutes to create PowerPoint presentations on anything.
Try out a new hairstyle ( e.g. cat ear trend, y2k aesthetic hairstyles or any other retro-inspired ones ).
Be happy, make goals and achieve them
I hope this mini-list helps to relieve boredom within Sydney, because trust me Sydney is one of those places that has nothing to do.
If you do end up trying anyone of these suggestions, feel free to come up to me and tell me how it went!
Until the next article...
