during lockdown i've struggled to get out of bed. my room is a mess and whilst i try
to muster up the energy to clean it, i just feel worse about myself... what should i do?

hi there!
first of all I just want you to know that this is totally normal and valid! every single person is struggling in lockdown one way or another. one way to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to have a clean environment around you! i have heaps of advice in this area, as a person who loves cleaning but can struggle for the energy of it sometimes.
the importance of cleaning your room is doing it step by step. it can be a day process, it could take over a week... but you have to patient with yourself. here i'm going to give you a few plans of what i do personally but the amazing thing about being an individual is that the steps can be performed however. for some, tidying up will be better suited towards lower energy levels, and those with an extra spark of energy can do some deep cleaning.
the most important part of staying motivated when cleaning your room is taking it step by step. there is no rush, these steps do not have to be done in this exact order. it is all about whatever is suited to you.

✧ step one: bed ✧
making sure you have a clean bed is your best beginning step to cleaning your room. you'll feel a lot better already as it gives the room a sense of tidiness!

✧ step two: clutter ✧
look at you! you're already up to step two! i'm so proud. you may be surprised but clutter can make a room feel so much smaller than it actually is! in moderation, it can create a cozy and neat feel!

✧ step three: bedside table ✧
tidying up your bedside table can ensure a more relaxing and comfortable experience when going to bed, especially if you need to put your phone or laptop there.

✧ step four: desk ✧
for most of us, our desk is where we hang out all day! it's where we get school work done, do some journaling, eating, watching netflix, scrapbooking etc. so ensuring a clean space will make you feel so much better.

✧ step five: drawers ✧
having neat drawers makes such a huge difference and can improve your mental health! i'm serious! it makes it so much easier when i reach in and can take exactly what i need.

✧ step six: shelves ✧
shelves are an essential decoration to our rooms! it's where we can display things that we love such as our funkopops, books, candles etc. be proud of those things you love!

✧ step seven: wardrobe ✧
our wardrobes all get messy from time to time (trust me i am so guilty of this), but it's important to keep it tidy, as it ensures a better environment for our clothes so we can all look hot!

✧ step eight: little things ✧
this is essential to ensuring everything feeling complete and your room feeling a lot cleaner! it's these little things that make such a huge finishing touch! i'm so proud of you!
